The point is just that this does not look like a terrain material with detail texture to me, it is just a base texture with nothing else.
I can remember another guy having problems with the terrain, but the issue was just that he used wrong settings in the terrain and materials.

4096 does work also I think but you don't really need that large textures, 512x512 will be enough in most cases, the big ones are just for skins for a whole model like a character or a building, the texture size is always relative to what size it covers in-game, search for terms like pixel density e...

I already set the default settings to normal, I thought this would be sufficient, if you set it down too much it will also decrease the first visual experience of the people. What settings do you get when pressing auto detect? If that works good maybe another solution is to force running auto detect...

There is a drawback with the sandstorm, the particles are pretty big and they clip through the ground quite often, leaving slightly ugly artifacts.
I will have to try more with different kinds of particles.
