Animation blending/bone rotation

I have noticed that the default player model rotates the hip bone when the player aims at different locations. How is that done and how it can be implemented in custom models?

I imagine it's part of the look animation, which is blended on top of the normal pose. Are you talking about the hip rotating with vertical aiming?

I'm not sure exactly where to look in the documentation, but what you want to keep an eye out for is 'look animation'.
