  1. Howdy all, I'm never on and I do apologize for that. I was browsing through my facebook and decided to peruse my old Torque3D page. Holy cow this page has over 166 likes. That's great and I'm sure with some more usage from you all it'll gain 166 more. If you are a developer and want to get your stuff out there to the community in the most expedient manner, you should post it on the facebook page as well as on the forums. If for some reason you cannot post drop me a line at lethedethius@gmail.com and I'll work to correct it. Anyways, the link to it is: https://www.facebook.com/Torque3D/ See ya on it soon! And Happy New Year all! It's been a crazy 2016, and I'm hoping for a crazy 2017!
  2. Ah yes, rlranft hit the nail on the head. Although I can expand on my reasons why. Schools in the U.S. to include both for and not-for profit schools are in it to make millions. I watched on CSPAN, the network that covers our Congress, as they trashed several schools who have misrepresented themselves. But in doing my own research they are on a witch hunt because the very institution of schools is vitally flawed, starting with middle and high school. We in the U.S. attempt to act like we are the greatest nation on Earth yet we are not willing to fix ourselves, our educational system is no different. It is a mystery to me that we are able to survive on a global platform with the idiocy emerging from our educational system. Mind you, I've already obtained an Associates degree in Information Technology. I breezed through it, because of dealing with plenty of webdesign and the Torque Game Engine in my past. I figured it was easy for me because of the prior experience, but then I began taking courses outside the scope of I.T. and figured out the entire idea of college work was simple (On a side note I laugh at any of you who are scared of college, at the Associates level it's not that serious, nor complex). But I can go on and on, but it would not fully express my academic experience. But I'll be more concise here... 1. People do the smallest amount to get by. 2. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD THEY SPEAK IN TONGUE! I say this jokingly but there a wealth of people who are in college or graduates who cannot perform the simple function of spelling. My wife is a graduate of Kent State University, with a Bachelors in English... I cannot compare to her expertise but for all intensive purposes I write effectively and convey exactly what I mean. There are literally millions of college graduates who cannot conform to simple writing mechanics, and somehow manage to get by with a hood-like mentality. They even skip spell check. 3. Their ideas are unsupported, they are willing to throw around a point but not support it. I will portray ONE example that sticks out... A girl attempted to claim cops were racist (this was 2011-2012 before all the police shootings), she posted a story on the phoenix.edu website, but in exploring what she posted (because I know she simply googled 'white cop shoots black guy' on google), apparently the black man in the car nearly missed the police after aiming it right at them... 4. They miss simple things like providing a reference. Case in point above...^. But when they do provide a reference they do not provide it in the proper format. In all of this teachers are afraid to fail students. The reasons above are one of the primary reasons I got out of IT as a degree... I have my personal reasons as well but I receive a lot less stupidity in the field of History. Generally to be someone who loves history is to be one who loves the proper usage of the English language, or providing a source for your input, actually caring about how your work looks, however #3 does somewhat apply. I receive a lot of flack over the notion that the Civil War was NOT 100% over slavery. However the historical evidence is there, and it was Lincoln who provided it... Another topic for another time though. I've taken up TOO much of your time gentlemen... Just know my contempt for education is deeply rooted and not unique to one school. By achieving a Masters or higher you can create your own institution though, or you can teach at one. So I'm hoping after I leave the service, that I can go teach and actually explain history, show up to school with a musket, or explain what the minnie bullet is, show children and adults alike how valuable history is to us and most importantly, get people to think critically over it, as opposed to just assuming hitler hated the jews and thats why WWII happened, or slavery was cherished and thats why the Civil War Happened... Anyways... You all have a good day! I'll try to be on here more often, absent of being on my loud speaker though
  3. Lukas, hello my old friend! I was hoping I would catch your attention! I'll do what I need to do so as to put you as page admin. A Doctorate degree will take time, actually a quite deal of time. But I started this journey hating the very institution of school (I saw it as a scheme for institutions to make a great deal of money). I still dislike the institution of school but I've learned to appreciate, even like aspects of it. That said if I'm going to go to school at all, why not seek the highest reward. At least if I fail I'm still considered a scholar! :)
  4. Hello all! It's been a long time since I've been in contact with many of y'all. To update you all, I have finished my Associates in Information Technology, and began my retirement from the I.T. realm. As the U.S. military gets more steered in what I consider the wrong direction, I've began to refocus my efforts and become a scholar. That said I'm 43 credits shy of a Bachelors in History, at which point I intend on pushing full speed ahead to pursue a Masters and Doctorate (Hopefully I can retire from the Army with a Doctorate). Something about Doctor Davis, sounds better than Sergeant Davis. But I digress. I have ran the Torque3D Facebook for quite some time, and I'm not doing it justice. Hell, I'm not doing YOU Justice. I would ask that Lukas, or someone that I've had prior contact with and have confidence in, would take over the FB page so that it can continue to prosper. I wish you all well, and please drop me a line and let me know about your game projects! I may be out of the gaming industry (for now anyways), but I would love to indulge in your ideas or current projects. I also have a host of products for the Torque3D engine. I no longer need them. You would have to speak to the respective developer that I bought the product for. But I own that license, I believe I can transfer it so long as I'm not profiting. P.S.: If you are looking to make a historically accurate game or use attributes from history I would be happy to help you and grateful to put my knowledge and resources (college text books) to work. I focus primarily in American History, American Revolution, War of 1812, and American Civil War. However I have deep rooted knowledge in the modern military as I've already served 12 years in the Active U.S. military. This is of course free, you can pay me by giving me a free copy to whatever game you make :). Anyways Ladies/Gentlemen, please contact me at james.justin.davis@gmail.com.. I look forward to speaking to you all, and I will try to check back here soon. Good luck to you all!
  5. So I'm more of a helper, I love to assist on projects, I try to start one but I'm more of a helper or a project manager because I cannot donate enough time to work every aspect of game development. I cannot donate enough time because I'm an Active Duty Soldier, Ron knows how it is... Unfortunately the Army hasn't fully grasped intelligence over strength, and while I got some pretty good intellect running around in my head *I'm trying to locate it currently* is because I'm recovering from three surgeries over the past 5 years, each one of my shoulders have had labral tears and really jacked up/cracked rotator cuffs and then my tummy blew it's guts out a little bit, I've been just a hot mess, don't run as fast as I used too so I'm working back up to that... Fortunately I've been gaining TONS of strength back and I'm pleasantly surprised at the work I've put in vs results I've received. I had someone video record this as proof because lord knows how long the strength will last.
  6. Maybe this? http://sourceforge.net/projects/simplephpirc/
  7. Silly idea, but why not setup a small java/php app that connects to the IRC so people can talk to the IRC directly through the site, it'd just require some SQL which the site already has a database hence the phpBB, from there people have already made it, just upload the folder, add the tables to the sql, connect the database and specify the irc server... Just an idea.
  8. Hello All, I was thinking of who I can ask for algebra help and what a better community than the one I'm engulfed in that is filled with people that deal with logic 24/7! If anyone that is really solid with college algebra could hit me up on steam, I go by Lethedethius. I promise not to abuse you I have simple questions though, reasons why certain things work out the way they do... but any help given is appreciated! :) Thank you!
  9. Hey Hey give a brother a break, how many pull request have I done in the past? 1 exactly. Yesterday! I was looking at it and was like where do I click edit and modify the code to resubmit!! :/ lol Well I'll post more threads to facebook and see what I can accomplish... maybe I'll get lucky!
  10. Oh lol, man you had me double checking with the 'wtf' as I scratched my head. If you need help quelling the spam on these boards shoot me an e-mail... I'll try to describe all the stuff I did on the other forums... both are phpbb so...
  11. ok I shot a pull request in. Also unsure how to do this or what needs to be done... but can we get the boards modified so when I plaster a specific forum link on the facebook page an image appears, at least the Torque3d logo but possibly an image within the thread... Just an idea. Visuals get hits ya know :)
  12. I think Torque3d.org should include the facebook page, it receives a LOT of traffic and deserves it :)
  13. Lukas to what are you referring? I don't see any spam being put on Torque3d.net?? >.<, I've taken a LOT of time and put in a lot of effort to mitigate such bots and/or people from doing so...
  14. Ah that is fine. Look I'm not offended that it didn't take, I offered and no one jumped at it. It lasted a little while but didn't solve all the issues. I'm a supporting kinda guy and I want to see torque3d survive, thrive, and dominate the planet *my secret plan muahaha*. Rather it happens here or there, or on reddit is not my concern :P. So tell me what y'all want to do with it, I'm open to anything but I'm not going to keep renewing it as a re-direct... seems pointless.
